The Kolkata knight Riders who was two time winner of the IPL, has finish fifth in the points table in last IPL. They lost the match with Mumbai Indian in Wankhede Stadium in a one sided game. A win in that match would have taken them to 14 points more and one level up from Sunrisers Hyderabad, as a result of that Kolkata Knight Riders defeat became the first team in the history of IPL to qualify for the next stage with 12 points.

Kolkata Knight Riders now has made a big change at the top of the lineup with appointing a new coach Brendon McCullum as the new coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders 2020. Mc Cullum has been a successful captain for New Zealand team and later played alot of T20 and IPL Cricket. So he has a nice experience and he knows the ins and outs of working things.

Dinesh Karthik will continue to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders, while Rubin Uthappa who has been in Kolkata Knight Riders and some times out of the team and sometimes he use to be in the team. Now he will be in the team. Andre Russel leads a lot of balance in the team.
