Recently WhatsApp has got a new update through which users can secure their conversation with their respective fingerprint or Face authentication. This is similar to how they currently lock their smartphones. Its really secure and amazing feature which WhatsApp has updated.

The Facebook owned platform WhatsApp has been testing this feature for iPhone X and newer devices in its TestFlight beta releases for some weeks now, and now in some days all the iPhone users will get the update. The all new authentication can be enabled via Screen Lock feature that can be found in the Privacy Settings of Whatsapp installed in iPhones. For the latest iPhone user like iPhone X users and above can enable this with their Face ID authentication system.

Lock Whatsapp with TouchID or Face ID on iPhone

  • Open Whatsapp App
  • Tap on Settings -> Account -> Privacy -> Screen Lock
  • Now Toggle on the Require Face ID Users of iPhone with a fingerprint scanner Home Button will see an Option Require Touch ID.

After enabling, users will now required to use their respective Face ID or Touch ID for unlocking the WhatsApp app, but they can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls when the app is locked. If WhatsApp fails to detect the users authentication, then user can still enter phone passcode to open WhatsApp app.

The report further says that these fingerprint as well as facial data isn’t stored on WhatsApp server and is safe for users privacy. The next WhatsApp update for iPhone users will get this feature to their handset, we are expecting this feature on Android too in coming days.
