Android 9 Pie, the next member of android family has been now officially released. The latest version was known as Android P till now and with the official release the actual name of the version has been revealed which is Android 9 Pie. As for now the stable version of the new Android has been rolling out for all Google Pixel smartphones including Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. Other phones are expected to get the update soon in coming weeks or some smartphone in months.

With this new version Android 9 Pie the Google has promising many new major upgrades with many major improvements with every aspect like feature, functionality and security, battery optimization etc.

The most notable update is the gesture-based navigation system which looks quite inspired by iphoneX launched last year. Here we will see whats new in Android 9 Pie and how to get it.

Android 9 Pie comes with many great new features; it brings a whole new system for navigation which operates using only single home button which feels similar as iPhoneX gesture navigation. You can swipe up the home button to get into view of your recently used apps. The new navigation system has just replaced the bar which contains three buttons for back, home and overview. There is also a new Smart Text Selection feature which works to recognize the meaning of the text which you have selected to suggest your relevant action as like opening on Google maps or to write an email on Gmail.

Apart from the new navigation system, Android Pie has various machine learning inputs which are inbuilt in it which helps to enables features such as Adaptive brightness and adaptive battery. Moving toward other features, there is an app action feature which predicts what you want to do next based on your actions on your device. for example if you usual uses Google Maps to navigate to work, this new features enables your device to automatically show you Google maps navigation option when you are preparing to communicate to your work.

In terms of Security updates in new Android Pie, the security model has been improved a lot over the last version Android Oreo for biometrics as well as privacy improvements such as TLS and DNS over TLS to protect web communications.

To make a better use of the UI a new Digital Wellbeing initiative comes with the new Android Pie. The initiative includes a new dashboard which helps to shows the time you spends on your device and time spend on using particular apps. It help you to set time limits on particular apps and gray out the icon on your home screen when time is up.

Apart from these new feature, Android Pie brings enhanced messaging notification which includes photos, stickers and smart reply option and the next change is that the new Android Pie is also going to support Notches.

How to get Android 9 Pie

Google has also announced that all the other companies which have been participated in Beta program like, Essential, HMD Global, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Sony, Oppo, ViVo will also receive updates later this year.
